Diabetes Emergency (Low Blood Sugar)

If I have diabetes and:

☐ I am confused, shaky, sweaty, or dizzy
☐ I seem unusually tired, angry, or disoriented
☐ I faint or cannot respond

What You Should Do

☐ If I am awake and able to swallow, give me fast sugar (Located in my Backpack)

  • Juice, soda (not diet), glucose tablets, candy

☐ Wait 10–15 minutes and watch for improvement

☐ Call 911 immediately if:

  • I pass out

  • I cannot swallow

  • I do not improve after sugar

Do NOT

☐ Do not give insulin
☐ Do not give food or drinks if I am unconscious
☐ Do not leave me alone
